PARIS — France basketball coach Vincent Collet has renewed his contract for three years after guiding the national team to its first international success at the European championship.
France beat Lithuania 80-66 on Sunday, two years after losing the final to Spain.
The 50-year-old Collet initially took charge on a four-year contract in 2009, and will now lead the team until at least the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, the French Basketball Federation said in a statement Monday.
FFBB president Jean-Pierre Siutat says "I want us to carry on the magnificent work we've done."
Collet has won 64 matches and lost 26 during his time as France coach.
Three-time NBA champion Tony Parker was France's inspiration and was voted the tournament's MVP.
