MANILA, Philippines - Technological Institute of the Philippines waylaid Polytechnic University of the Philippines, 87-51, while Trinity University of Asia crushed Don Bosco Technical College, 100-76, in the second season of the National Collegiate Basketball League recently.
Paulo Francis Sean, Carlo Gomez and Jeffrey Yanes combined for 36 points as they negated the 27-point explosion of PUP gunner Mark Ian Quirante to power the Engineers to the lopsided win at the TIP gym in Manila.
The White Stallions, on the other hand, drew a combined 44-point output from Mark Anthony Dolligon, Joshua Alcober and Joshua Saret as they demolished the Greywolves at the TUA gym in Quezon City last Tuesday.
TUA also bucked another big game by Quirante (28 points), hacking out an 82-75 win in their second faceoff.
The TIP Engineers had an easier time against the Greywolves, leading from start to finish for a 91-66 win for an early share of the lead with the TUA side at 2-0.
TIP and TUA dispute the lead on Sept. 17 while PUP and DBTC clash in the other match at the TUA gym next Wednesday.
