Romeo, Ravena trade pleasantries heading to awaited clash

MANILA, Philippines – In the highly anticipated match-up on Wednesday between Ateneo’s Kiefer Ravena and Far Eastern University’s Terrence Romeo, the two prolific guards of the country’s most glamorous collegiate league praised each other on their personal Twitter accounts.

Ravena, the former UAAP Rookie of the Year and a two-time champion, started the exchange with a playful banter, asking Romeo not to score against his Blue Eagles.

Romeo, for his part, returned the pleasantry, complimenting Ravena as a player already “on top” but remains humble.

In hindsight, this could be a jab from Romeo to Kiefer’s teammate Nico Salva, the former Blue Eagle whom Romeo had a spat with last week.

Salva criticized Romeo on Twitter that led to the exchange.

Romeo has turned heads in this year’s tournament after leading the MVP race at the end of the first round and powering FEU to an immaculate 7-0 record.

Ravena did not suit up in their first round match-up because he was nursing an injury. But he has successfully returned, and the Blue Eagles have won five of their last six games to tie UE at fourth place in the standings with identical 5-4 win-loss cards.

Romeo, meanwhile, will try to do an encore after erupting for 30 points Sunday in a classic 98-94 double overtime victory against UE as FEU improved to a league-best 8-2 record.
