Letran’s Dysam, wife shot after NCAA game; latter declared dead

MANILA, Philippines – Almost an hour after Letran’s 61-53 win over Lyceum , Letran's back-up point guard Franz Dysam and his wife were shot inside their car by still unidentified two gunmen riding in tandem near the corner of N. Domingo and Araneta Ave., or just a few minutes away from The Arena in San Juan Saturday.

"Yes," confirmed Letran coach Caloy Garcia.

Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, Letran's athletic moderator and Management Committee representative, then confirmed that Dysam's wife died from the gunshot wounds.

Dysam suffered gunshot wounds, in the chest, hip and thigh area and is reportedly being transferred to the UST hospital, the Letran guard is already in stable condition.

As of posting time, Dysam, who averages 2.5 points, 1.5 boards and the same number of assists.

In the other game, defending champion San Beda routed Jose Rizal, 65-41, to move to solo second with a 5-1 card in the 89th NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

The Bombers absorbed their third setback in as many triumphs.
