MANILA, Philippines - In-form Cyna Rodriguez shot a bogey-free four-under 69 but still trailed Alexandra Wong by three at the start of the Sacramento City Women’s Amateur Golf Championship at the Bing Maloney course in Sacramento, California over the weekend.
Rodriguez, coming off a three-stroke romp over Han Wu in Long Beach last week, hit three birdies inside 12 feet at the front then added a tap-in birdie on No. 12 of the par 73 layout.
But the top ICTSI-backed bet stood three shots off Wong in a day of torrid scoring with Marissa Mar matching the Filipino bet’s output for a share of second place.
Sagee Palavivatana of Thailand carded a 71 for fourth.
“I feel good and confident coming off a come-from-behind victory last week,†said Rodriguez, also the reigning Hong Kong Amateur Open champion. “I just hope to make a big charge in the final 18 holes.â€
The Sacramento meet is the second of a series of US tournaments lined up for the ICTSI-sponsored bets, who also include 14-year-old Abegail Arevalo.
