MANILA, Philippines - With upgrades nearing completion, Sherwood Hills is all set for hosting the 53rd Putra Cup, also known as the Southeast Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship on June 27-30.
The Jack Nicklaus par-72, world-class championship layout has been undergoing minor improvement while the Riva Bella residential units, the two-storey villas located near the clubhouse, are almost complete.
The units are expected to house the country’s representatives, including those in the regular men’s Putra Cup, the Santi Cup (ladies), Lion City Cup (juniors), and Kartini Cup (lady juniors).
“The villas will give our players a comfortable place inside Sherwood. These will give them more time to rest during the event as they will not have to travel far,†said club president Harrison Paltongan.
Paltongan addressed this development to the club members and guests who were present during the awards ceremony of the recently concluded and successful third Suntrust Cup.
The club has seen a robust sign of progress with the improved Nicklaus course plus facilities and such as function rooms, 9-hole mini golf, a game room, two swimming pools and, soon, a third nine-hole course.
“The development is continuous until we achieve a full golf club destination. The goal is to see the members and guests happy with various activities they can do inside the Sherwood Hills complex,†he added.
