Blackwater tries again versus Hog’s Breath

MANILA, Philippines - Blackwater Sports shoots for the outright semifinal berth for the third and last time as it plays also-ran Hog’s Breath at the close of its elims round campaign in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO gym in QC.

The Elite dropped their last two games and slid to second (7-3) behind a surging defending champion NLEX (7-2) but are heavily favored against the Razorbacks in their 2 p.m. encounter.

“We need to win today to get back our winning form just in time for the next round,” said Blackwater Sports coach Leo Isaac.

Still in the hunt for an outright entry in the semifinals, Fruitas (6-3) also guns for a crucial win against Café France (5-5) in their 12 noon showdown.

The Bakers, their playoff bid ruined by a three-game losing streak, look to close out their campaign with a victory in a bid to snatch the other coveted berth.

In case of tie, Fruitas holds the advantage over Blackwater Sports by virtue of the winner-over-the-other rule.

Meanwhile, the Razorbacks are out of playoff race with an eight-game losing skid but will be out to spoil the Elite’s bid.
