Quiban, Shah lead PGF Junior Masters qualifying

MANILA, Philippines - Justin Quiban and Miguel Shah claimed the two slots disputed in boys Class A even as Carl Corpus easily made it as the top qualifier in boys Class B in the Southern Luzon leg of the Philippine Golf Foundation Junior Masters Series at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club course in Nasugbu, Batangas.

After firing a 73 in the opening round, Quiban slowed down with a 79 for 152 for a three-shot win over Miguel Shah, who had a 78-155 as they grabbed the two available slots in the 15-17 years age bracket for the national matchplay finals slated May 21-24 at the Alabang Country Club.

Carl Corpus also got in after an 80-163 and the runner-up in the 11-12 age-group, Ira Alido (82-169) booked his own slot in the continuation of a nationwide series conducted by the Philippine Golf Foundation and the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines to train and develop more junior players.

The elimination series winds up today and tomorrow at the Del Monte course in Bukidnon where talents being honed by Frankie Miñoza are expected to figure well.
