MANILA, Philippines - National U goes for its fifth straight win against Perpetual Help today even as San Sebastian and Letran clash in a duel of NCAA rivals in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
Bobby Ray Parks Jr. hit clutch free throws to lift the Bulldogs to a pulsating 67-64 victory over the fancied FEU Tams last Wednesday in what coach Eric Altamirano described as a test of character.
“It was a tough win and we expected it because we’re facing a really elite team,†said Altamirano. “It was really a test of character for us more than anything, and the players responded when needed.â€
The Bulldogs held their own against the Tams led by ace playmakers Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia, posting as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter.
But Romeo and Garcia took charge at crunchtime to put the Tams back into the game before Parks foiled them by canning in four charities to clinch their fourth win in row.
They hope to stretch it to five as they face off with the Altas at 12:45 p.m.
San Sebastian and Letran, meanwhile, collide at 4:15 p.m. after the 2:30 p.m. match between University of the East and Emilio Aguinaldo College.
