MANILA, Philippines - Juvic Pagunsan shot a bogey-free five-under 66 to move within two strokes off new leader Tae-Hee Lee in the third round of the Tsuruya Open at the Yamanohara Golf Club still paced by Masashi Ozaki in Hyogo, Japan yesterday.
Pagunsan, who hit two birdies in the last two holes to close out his weather-delayed second round stint early morning yesterday for a 68, sustained his form in the third round, birdying three of the first nine holes. Then he birdied the par-5 Nos. 15 and 17 to put himself in contention for a first-ever victory on the Japan PGA Tour.
The former Asian Tour No. 1 totaled 13-under 200 at the par-71 layout to join Hideki Matsumaya and Kodai Ichihara in second at 200, two strokes behind Lee, who fired a 67 for a 198.
