Energizer night race lights up Global City

MANILA, Philippines - The streets of Bonifacio Global City will be illuminated with over 5,000 lamps covering up to 10 kilometers when Energizer rekindles the Energizer Night Race on May 4.

Over 5,000 running enthusiasts are expected to take part wearing Energizer LED headlamps for a nighttime run for a cause set for 5K and 10K distances in an out-and-back course from 9th Avenue and 34th Street.

Last held in the country two years ago, the Energizer night race has also been held in other parts of Asia, Africa, Europe, and North and South America to raise awareness on the world’s need for safe, clean, and affordable solar lighting, and is now back in the Philippines with the theme “Race for a Brighter World.”

Launched in the country three years ago with races held in Cebu, Dagupan and Davao, the novel race has since been adopted by various race organizers. But Energizer remains the only night race in the country that gives back to the people with the company’s mantra of “Sharing positivenergy.”

Along with partner One Million Lights, Energizer has donated over Solar-Powered LED flashlights to various communities, including parts of Rizal and Oriental Mindoro, as well as remote communities in Latin America, Ethiopia, and Kenya.

“The last Energizer Night Race was held last 2011 and we were able to lure over 5,000 runners. This year, we hope to have that kind of number as we continue to share positivenergy by means of providing safe and clean light to the Filipino people through our partner One Million Lights,” said Energizer Philippines marketing manager Cara Ramirez-Tecson in yesterday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate.

Being held in partnership with Schick, the Energizer Night Race starts at 7:30, with prizes and various surprises in store for top runners. Organizers will allow participants to customize their race singlets and are even offering a prize for the best design and message.

Participants are also encouraged to post their photos after the race on Energizer’s Facebook page and get a chance to win Best Before and After Photos, Best Action shot, and Best Light Art Photo.

Interested parties can still register for the race at Brooks SM North Edsa, RUNNR Bonifacio High Street, and Toby’s Sports EDSA Shangri-la, Glorietta, and SM Mall of Asia.
