MANILA, Philippines - For their major achievements, AUTSRacing karters bagged top honors in two major events – the 10th Golden Wheel Awards Night at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the kickoff leg of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack.
AUTSRacing team manager Martin Alvendia said the awards are “inspiring blessings†that will further motivate his wards Brian Thorp, Yvana Carangan, Carl Luig, Francis Mark Tanlu and new recruit Bobby Redpath to scale greater heights in this season’s title campaign through the big support of Kipling’s, BIREL Competition Karts, Yamaha Winforce, Maynilad Water Services, Powerade Ion by Coca-Cola Bottlers, Tune Hotels.com, Team Insider Boxing Gym, Kart Care Lubricants and FreeLine Go Kart Parts.
Luig sealed a successful racing debut as the 10th Golden Wheel Awards Night, the much-awaited red carpet event that fetes the top achievers of Philippine Motorsports, honored him with the Formula SL Novice Champion trophy and the huge Perpetual trophy as the 2012 Karting season Rookie of the Year.
The 10th Golden Wheel Awards Night also conferred trophies to Yvana Carangan as the Formula SL Expert first runner-up, Brian Thorp as the Formula SL second runner-up, and Francis Mark Tanlu as the Formula Cadet Novice first runner-up.
The pre-season training under head coach Indy Villalon sets off AUTSRacing Team’s title campaign this season on the right foot, clinching two champion trophies, a runner-up and a third place trophy and one fourth place honors in the opening round of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series.
Thorp and Redpath powered the team’s big show after clinching the champion trophies in the Formula SL Expert and the Formula Cadet Novice classes, respectively.
Carangan made it a 1-2 finish in the Formula SL Expert division with Luig winding up fourth. Tanlu copped third place honors on his first race moving up in the Formula SL Novice category.
“We commend the milestone feats of our karters as we also give credits to Birel Performance Karts that played a big part in keeping AUTSRacing’s credibility as a top karting team,†said Alvendia.
