MANILA, Philippines - Georges St.-Pierre mauled a trash-talking Nick Diaz in all five rounds to retain his Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight crown via unanimous decision win at UFC 158 before his countrymen in Montreal, Canada.
The 31-year-old St.-Pierre won in all the judges’ scorecards, 50-45, to annex his 24th win against two losses. It was his 11th straight victory since absorbing a TKO (technical knockout) loss to Matt Serra at UFC 69 six years ago.
Having no answer to the ground-and-pound of St.-Pierre Diaz, 29, tried another gambit by trash-talking but the former kept his composure.
It paid off as he totally manhandled Diaz, who fell to his second straight defeat after dropping another five-round decision to Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight crown at UFC 143 last year and 26-9-1 (win-loss-no contest) overall.
