PSG FC pulls off stunner vs Green Archers

MANILA, Philippines - Emmanuel Mbata and Promise Jolomi delivered in the second half as PSG FC pulled off a shock, come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Green Archers United-Globe to boost its bid in the First Division of the United Football League at the McKinley Hill grounds in Taguig  Saturday night.

After Jesus Joaquin Melliza unleashed a 25th minute rocket to give the Hans Smith-mentored Archers a 1-0 lead, the PSG booters never got discouraged and struck back behind Mbata, who drilled in a brilliant goal on the 56th minute to tie.

Jolomi then cashed in on another chance 21 minutes later for that game-winning blast that sealed PSG FC’s first ever win after starting the season with just a draw in five matches.

It also gave PSG FC a share of seventh with the Archers, who absorbed their fourth defeat against a win and a draw, on four match points.

In Second Division action, Team Socceroo won over Cebu Queen City United by default to keep the lead with 18 points on six straight victories.

The Cebuano booters fell to their sixth defeat in a row.

In the only other match, Union Internacional Manila relied on Ajah Goodluck Stanley to eke out a 2-2 deadlock against a rough-playing Phl Navy FC side to stay at No. 2  with 11 points.

Navyman Rockclint Viliran shattered a scoreless deadlock by scoring on the 53rd before Union’s James tied it six minutes later.

Richard Leyble gave Navy back the lead, 2-1, following a 79th minute goal before Stanley forced another tie on the 85th minute.

The Navymen remained second to the last with five points on a win and two draws against three defeats.
