Top karters vie in Coke super series

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top karters brace for another intense battle as they clash in the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series starting Sunday at the Carmona Racetrack in Cavite.

Last year’s karter of the year Vencer John Suba of Eagle Cement heads the field of over 60 karters vying in the seven-leg series featuring the Formula Cadet Novice and Expert, the Formula SL Novice and Expert, the SQ Novice, Expert and Veteran; the Mini-ROK, the ROK Clubman, ROK Junior and ROK Senior divisions and the ROK overall championship.

Suba won the last three of the four-race inaugural of the 2013 Coca-Cola KF2-KF3 Cup Series, making him the marked karter in the event sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.

Out to foil his bid are siblings Milo and Estefano Rivera of Tough Gear Racing, CJ Tsui and Bobby Domingo of Formula E Racing, Lian Linao, Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier and ace lady karter Sacha Feliciano.

Raymond Cudala of Tough Gear Racing, who also ruled three of the four KF3 races last month, takes on Jaz Monzones of Formula E Racing in the ROK Junior division that also includes Wayne Darvin of Total Racing and SEAOIL-DC-Kilton karter Gabe Tayao-Cabrera.

Tayao-Cabrera is likewise tagged as the top favorite for the Formula SL Novice crown up against Arthur Tuason of TRS Karting Kids, Mark Francis Tanlu of AUTS Racing, Alexandra Miguel of Tough Gear and David Papa.

In the Formula SL Expert division, Yvana Carangan of AUTS Racing is ranged against male rivals that include AUTS Racing teammates Carl Luig and Brian Thorp, Carlos Lorenzo and Bjonar Eikevik of CityKart and Allison Julian of One Racing.
