Rozen resigns as Kaya head coach

MANILA, Philippines – With a cloud of uncertainty hovering over the struggling Kaya FC, one more problem hit the club as head coach Maor Rozen tendered his resignation just three matches into the 2013 United Football League season.

Team owner Santi Araneta broke the news via his Twitter account (@santiaraneta) on Saturday.

The startling development came on the heels of Kaya’s early struggles as the LBC-backed club started with a 1-1-1 win-draw-loss card and figuring in a melee against the Green Archers United-Globe in its second match of the season.

Rozen was sent off alongside Green Archers’ Elle Cagayanan and team manager Monchu Garcia for their involvement in the fracas that marred Kaya’s 2-1 victory.  UFL technical committee is set to review the game tape with heavier penalties expected to be handed down.

Consequently, Rozen was suspended due to red card and missed Kaya's next match against Nomads which ended up in a scoreless draw.

Kaya, which fell short in winning the league title last season to Global due to inferior goal difference, has yet to announce Rozen’s replacement but the club is expected to release its official statement before its upcoming match against reigning UFL Cup champion Stallion-Sta. Lucia on Tuesday.

Rozen was hired last December replacing interim coach Kyle Alvarez, who also resigned after Kaya’s runner up finish in the league last season.
