MANILA, Philippines - Hope Christian High School upset De La Salle Zobel, 73-64, in Division I while Faith Academy trounced UST-B, 69-58, in Division II to advance to the finals of the 30th SeaOil Metro Manila Basketball League recently.
From a pool of 70 high school teams from all over Metro Manila, the number has now dwindled to 20 squads vying in the semifinals win-or-go-home format.
The Hope cagers will go up against the winner of the National University-San Beda game while Faith will take on Xavier, which edged National U-B, 71-69.
San Beda-B, meanwhile, tripped brother school San Beda Alabang, 68-66, to set up a title clash with Colegio San Benildo Rizal for the Division III crown. The Rizal-based squad crushed Colegio de San Agustin Biñan, 71-57.
In Division IV, NU Team C walloped La Salle College of Antipolo, 71-44, to earn the right to play San Beda Team D, which thwarted Espiritu Santo Parochial School, 65-61.
In girls’ play, De La Salle Zobel routed sister team La Salle College of Antipolo, 68-48, and will face the winner of the Chiang Kai Shek-UNO/Casimiro Ynares Memorial School tussle for the crown.
The finals in all five divisions will be played tomorrow at the San Beda College gym.
