MANILA, Philippines – Kaya FC kicked off the 2012 Philippine Football Federation Smart National Club Championships with a 5-nil win over M’Lang FC yesterday at the South Cotabato Sports Complex in Koronadal City.
Nate Burkey scored a brace while new acquisition Chris Greatwhich made his first goal in Kaya uniform to lift the United Football League runner up to the quarterfinals against the winner of the Flame United FC and the Loyola Meralco Sparks.
Dario Dakic added one more goal for Kaya while an M’lang FC's own goal pegged the final score.
The PFF Smart National Club Championships will resume on Sunday with five matches to be played in different venues.
General Trias International FC will visit Baguio United FC at 3pm in Benguet State University in La Trinidad while Green Archers United FC will face Romgarjal FC at the Jose Rizal Memorial State University in Dapitan and Pachanga-Diliman FC will take on Cebu Queen City United FC at the Aboitiz Field in Cebu. All the three matches will kick off at 3pm.
The Sparks-Flame United FC match, meanwhile, will be played at the Rizal Memorial Stadium 4pm also on Saturday to be followed by the clash between defending UFL champion Global and Nomads .
