Toroman next Barako Bull coach?

Rajko Toroman

MANILA, Philippines - Serbian mentor Rajko Toroman could be Barako Bull’s next head coach, and not Pido Jarencio.

Toroman sat down in a meeting with Barako Bull officials at the Shangri-La EDSA Hotel yesterday, discussing a possible deal for the former Smart Gilas coach to call the shots for the Energy Cola.

The foreign coach obtained a release from his contract with San Miguel Corp. before sitting on the negotiating table with the Barako team.

“Coach Rajko Toroman formally sought a release from his contract, saying he wants to explore other opportunities. Management approved Mr. Toroman’s request and wishes him well in his future endeavors,” an SMC statement said.

Toroman entertained the offer of Barako since he was not happy being just a consultant with the Petron Blaze team.

“I feel I wasn’t important. So I left (San Miguel) because I really want a head coaching job,” said Toroman as quoted by a social network site.

“There is a difference between coaching and being a consultant. I am not a consultant. It’s not in my nature. I am really looking for an opportunity to coach, and there goes the offer (from Barako),” Toroman added.
