MANILA, Philippines - The second Dickies-FCBL (Filipino-Chinese Basketball League) Women’s Cup unfolds tomorrow with Far Eastern University out to prove its stake as the country’s No. 1 team at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.

Led by Allana Lim, Soc Borja, Karen Columna and Camille Sambile, the Lady Tamaraws beat La Salle in the recent UAAP finals for their second straight and 11th championship overall.

They also ruled the inaugural FCBL tournament last year also at the expense of the Lady Archers in the event presented by Dickies through the help of Jose Atienza, CEO of American Star Apparel Phil.

Dickies is again the major sponsor of the event, staged to help boost women’s basketball in the country.

“It’s our way of helping women’s basketball in the country,” said Atienza. “We’re hoping for another successful season with FCBL.”

FEU opens its title-retention bid against College of St. Benilde at 3 p.m.

Clashing in the opening game of the tournament, backed by Smart Telecom, Powerhouse, CW Home Depot, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum and Hapee Toothpaste, are WNCAA and NAASCU champion Centro Escolar University and Adamson. Other teams taking part in the weekend-only tournament are University of Santo Tomas, La Salle, Ateneo and Lyceum.

Also invited to the opening ceremony of the eight-team tournament is Dody Arcaya, Dickies vice president for sales and marketing.
