MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame holds its 12th awards rites on Saturday with the school’s top sports achievers the last three years to be feted at the Ricardo and Dr. Rosita Leong Hall Auditorium, Loyola Schools, Ateneo de Manila University in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
Dubbed as FABILIOH XII, the event will start at 4:30 p.m. to be preceded by a Mass, registration of awardees and guests, and photo sessions with the awardees with members of their families.
Fr. Jose Ramon “Jett” Villarin S.J., president of the Ateneo de Manila University, will be the guest of honor and speaker.
The Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame (ASHOF) Committee, formerly under the Ateneo Alumni Association Board of Directors until 2005, and now an independent corporate entity, has been giving awards to Ateneo sports luminaries every three years since 1979. To date, 152 sports heroes have been inducted into the ASHOF.
Invited to grace the event are current Ateneo teams and athletes who have done the school proud by their outstanding and rare achievements in their respective sports, including the five-peat UAAP men’s basketball champions and the eight-peat UAAP boys’ swimming champions.
