Taconing faces Thai at Elorde

Jonathan Taconing

MANILA, Philippines - Former WBC International champion Jonathan Taconing will try to improve his ratings when he fights Wanchai Nianghansa of Thailand tonight at the grand ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center on Sucat Road, Parañaque.

Fighting in the main card promoted by businessman/sportsman Johnny Elorde in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila 101, Cobra and PCSO, Taconing will avenge his controversial technical decision loss to Thai champion Kompayak Porpramook in Buriram, Thailand last May when he fought for the WBC light flyweight championship.

It was a highly disputed match-up which could have given Taconing the crown if the doctor did not stop the fight.

Wanchai, who logs a record of eight wins and three losses, is a veteran of muay thai fights, having appeared in more than 100 fights and is ready to snatch Taconing’s ratings.

The undercard will have nine bouts featuring Randy Braga vs Jovel Maraya (8 rds. 127 lbs.), Rene Patillano vs Sherwin Lungay ( 8 rds., 109 lbs.), Jeffrey Francisco vs Joseph Diemos ( 6 rds., 113 lbs.), Giemel Magramo vs Junjie Lauza ( 6 rds., 113 lbs.), Jay Loto vs Jon Jon Faminiano (6 rds. 106 lbs.), Fritz Marvin Bolinguet vs Jayson Nicart (4 rds., 119 lbs), Diomel Diocos vs Renjie Hermoso ( 4 rds. 113 lbs.), Darwin Obiena vs Mark Penaminte (4 rds., 119 lbs.) and John Ray Logatiman vs Manuel Mamacquiao (4 rds. 113 lbs.)
