Highlanders seek crown at Sta. Elena

MANILA, Philippines - Tagaytay Highlands hopes to use the momentum of its recent romp at home as it goes for the overall championship with a solid outing in the final leg of the 2012 Champion Infinity WGAP Circuit presented by Pacsports at Sta. Elena Golf Club in Laguna on Monday.

The Highlanders piled up a whopping eight-point output in the penultimate leg of the eighth-stage circuit at Midlands recently and surged ahead of the 11-team field with 25 points heading to the last stage at Sta. Elena.

They swept Class A and B and finished second in Class C as they moved from joint third to solo lead, six points ahead of defending back-to-back overall champion Alabang and a surging Aguinaldo Golf Club, which both had 19 points.

Villamor had 18 while Forest Hills assembled 16 points in the event organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines and sponsored by Champion Infinity and Pacsports.

Sta. Elena, which posted the best-ever output in the season with a sweep of the three divisions in the kickoff leg at Villamor, has gone scoreless in the last three legs but is expected to figure prominently at home on a team built around Careth Ricamonte, Daisy Dinopol-Jackes, Rio Co, Alice Jose, Carmela Lee, Carlota Nemec and Elvira Liboro.

Aguinaldo is also tipped to contend for the overall title after stringing 12 points in the last two legs of the annual event featuring the leading golfing ladies from the country’s premier clubs.

Tagaytay Highlands hopes to draw the best from Rosalie Heo, Hedy See, Bern Wong and Sandy Prieto-Romualdez with support from Olive Yoon, Rebecca Albert, Nini Eustaquio, Maline Flores, Gie Bote and Veronica Veloso in Class A.
