Kidapawan hosts Philta age-grouper

MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Mindanao swing of the Philta-Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age- Group Championships presented by Babolat resumes tomorrow with another four-day tournament among the youths in Kidapawan, Cotabato City.

The Kidapawan stop is the second of five legs slated in the region as part of the Philippine Tennis Association’s program, in cooperation with sponsors Palawan Pawnshop and Technosports, to promote the sport and discover fresh talents from the countryside.

“We are very thrilled to help bring this tournament in Mindanao and we’re inviting all young tennis buffs to join this tournament,” said Guillermo Nocom, president of Technosports, exclusive distributor of Babolat.

General Santos will host the next leg on Nov. 9-12 with the tournament hopping to Cagayan de Oro for the Nov. 16-19 event before Suldan Kudarat wraps up the Mindanao circuit on Nov. 23-26.

“We are overwhelmed by the tremendous response of these young kids to our tournaments and we hope to produce talents whom we’d like to develop and train for possible slots in the national pool,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro.

The event features competitions in boys’ and girls’ 12-U, 14-U, 16-U and 18-U divisions and the 10-unisex.
