MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Swimming League has appointed long-time Filipino-Canadian coach Fred Arzaga as head mentor of the PSL national team competing in the Universiade, the Olympics for students worldwide, in Kazan, Russia in July 2013.
“We welcome coach Arzaga as PSL head coach for the Universiade ,” said PSL president Susan Papa. “His training expertise will certainly help improve the performance of our young swimmers as they prepare for the prestigious event.”
Arzaga, currently head coach of the Crest Swim Club in Crest Town in Canada, holds a bachelor’s degree in science and arts and a Master’s degree in physical education from National U.
Arzaga, founder of the Crest Swim Club where he trained his three children, is a member of the Canadian Swimming Coaches Association, the Ontario Swimming Coaches Association and the American Swimming Association.
He will monitor the training program of the 45 swimmers selected to the national training pool for the Universiade.
