MANILA, Philippines - St. Clare and Centro Escolar University raised their winning runs to four as they disposed of separate rivals in the 12th NAASCU men’s basketball held at the Lumera Towers, Legarda, Manila.
Jeff Viernes had 15 points while teammates Eugene Torres, Ramon Jamito and Marte Gil added 14, 11 and 10 as the Saints opened a 33-14 lead after one quarter leading to an easy 100-53 rout against Trace College.
Axel Garcia finished with 28 points while Mark Guillen and Eulogio Lamosa chipped in 15 points each as CEU dominated New Era University, 85-62.
The match was close in the first half but the Scorpions found their sting in the third canto where they scored 26 points leading to a 66-48 advantage. Our Lady of Fatima University got their third win in four outings with a 103-68 victory over City University of Pasay.
Carlito Cubo finished with 21 points, Romyl Jornacion added 14 while Benjie Jimenez and Paul John Pineda contributed 11 markers each for the Phoenix.
NEU dropped to 1-3 while CUP and Trace College fell to 0-4.
