MANILA, Philippines - Jed Dy made a clean sweep of his three-tournament campaign in California when he led a five-division haul by Philippine bets – four of them in the girls division – in the Veritas World jungolf championships at the Pacific Palms course in Los Angeles recently.
Dy ruled the 8 years division to claim a third straight title in as many weeks after emerging as champion in his age-group at the San Diego Junior Masters and the Callaway Junior World Championships.
Annyka Chanel Pineda, Harmie Constantino, Abby Arevalo and Chanelle Avaricio all topped their respective age brackets as Philippine bets scooped up the most titles in the tourney marking its debut in the summer series for juniors in the US.
Avaricio won the 15 years trophy, Arevalo claimed the 13 years plum, Constantino topped the 11 years bracket and Pineda took the 8 years category.
Completing the impressive Phl showing was the runner-up finish of Sam Bruce in the girls 11 years, third place windup of Jama Reyes in the boys 17 years class and Sam Martirez 14 years in the girls, Lester Lagman’s fourth place showing in the boys 12 years group and Jolo Magcalayo finishing sixth in the 8 years class.
Constantino also posted a top 10 finish at the Junior World just like Mia Legaspi, Sam Martirez and Aidric Chan aside from victories by Jed Dy and Bernice Olivarez Ilas for one of the best showings by a delegation carrying the colors of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines in the annual event.
