MANILA, Philippines - Daniel Henares flashed top form to captured the gold medal in the monthly National Benchrest rifle (BR50) competition at the Philippine National Shooting Association Marine Range in Fort Bonifacio Taguig City.
Henares, who settled for silver last May, shot 692 points to beat Edwin Jeremillo’s 686 and Pot Lapus’s 634.
“My match rifle fell on its side and bent the scope rings. I will never know how I came out with that win, but shooting with manila’s best is always rewarding,” said Henares.
He had only one scratch mark on his record when he took the silver last May. He also won the gold in the February, March and April events while he didn’t see action in the June tournament.
Randy Paronda topped the heavy varmint class while Doc Perez ruled the sporter division.
