MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East community is set to welcome its basketball heroes as they come home to their Alma Mater for the first UE Red Warriors Homecoming which highlights a tribute to legendary Philippine basketball coach Virgilio “Baby” Dalupan Tuesday at the UE Manila Dalupan (Main) Lobby on C. M. Recto Avenue, Manila.
The tribute and homecoming will honor the “Maestro” Dalupan, who accounted for an unprecedented 12 of the 18 titles of UE in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), including the unsurpassed seven straight titles (from 1965 to 1971), and several inter-collegiate titles.
UE greats Filomeno Pumaren Jr., Rhoel Nadurata, Jimmy Mariano, Robert Jaworski and Jerry Codiñera will lead former Warriors in honoring the legendary coach.
Jimmy Manansala, Frederick Pumaren, Julio Cruz, Boycie Zamar, Jojo Mariquit, Teng Hojilla, Johnny Marcadejas, Bong Ravena, Braulio Lim Jr., Alvin Zuñiga, Gerald Ortega, Noy Catalan, Raymond Sotto, Jay Arr Estrada, Paul Artadi, Niño Canaleta, Ronald Tubid, Robert Labagala, Paulo Hubalde, Elmer Espiritu, Rudy Lingganay, James Yap, Paul Lee are among other UE warriors who have already confirmed their attendance.
UE marketing executive director Jesus Tanchanco Sr., concurrent UE Red Warriors team manager, reiterates his call and invitation to all alumni of the UE Warriors (1953-2011) men’s basketball team to come home to celebrate this momentous event free.
