Guioguio, Superal head So Ladies cast

MANILA, Philippines - Reigning Philippine amateur champion Lovelynn Guioguio and Philippine Ladies Open runner-up Princess Superal have joined the crack roster of players from the country’s various clubs in Southern Ladies Open golf tournament firing off tomorrow at Cebu Country Club in Cebu City.

Guioguio and Superal head the four-player list from the ICTSI-backed squad that includes Hong Kong Amateur Open winner Jayvie Agojo and Sarah Ababa, who will be slugging it out with the likes of Rainstar Roque, Eva Minoza, Apple Fudolin and Ping Jarales from Del Monte and Riviera’s Seo Yon Kwon and Jan Punzalan for top honors in the centerpiece Championship Division.

But equally interesting is the competition in the other groups, including Classes A, B, C and D where the leading players of Tagaytay Highlands and Midlands, Sta. Elena, Forest Hills, AFP Golf Club, Mactan Island, Del Monte, Pueblo de Oro, Orchard, Riviera, Wack Wack, and host Cebu Country Club are seeing action.

Also on tap in the 49th staging of the annual three-day event serving as part of the Globe Amateur Golf Circuit and conducted by the National Golf Association of the Phils. is the 36-hole seniors for 55 years old-and-above players.

The local bets are also expected to figure well in the 54-hole tournament, sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, WWWExpress-DHL Worldwide Express, Directories Phils. Corp. Yellow Pages, Leisure and Resorts World Corp, Security Bank and St. Luke’s Medical Center with Ford’s Inn as the official hotel, owing to their familiarity with the flat but tight layout in Banilad.

They include Hannah Wong, Ryojo Nacal, Jungja Bae, Lalay Lava, Eva Hino, Conchita Van Gelder, Lucile Colina, Yukiko Ushioda, Mercy Bejar, Flor Streegan, Mila Chan and Annie Libi.

Scoring will be based on Molave points system.

Also on tap in the event, is the 36-hole team event to be composed of four players each with the top three scorers counting for the squad. The team and seniors events will use the Stableford scoring system (net of handicap).
