MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo and AMA Computer University hacked out a pair of cliffhangers to seal a title duel in the Seaoil-NBTC Junior Elite League at Xavier School court recently.
Ateneo nipped La Salle-Greenhills, 60-57, while AMA Computer University edged Chang Kai Shek, 74-72, in a pair of Final Four duels in the tournament backed by Seaoil, and San Miguel Corp.’s Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdog, Star Margarine and Magnolia Spinner Ice Cream. Molten is the official basketball.
James Gotladera fired 22 points for the Eagles, who also drew 19 markers from Xavier Jorvina.
The event, for grade school kids 12-years-old-and-under, in the National Capital Region, is supervised by the National Basketball Training Center in partnership with the International Basketball Academy.
Christian Tanedo shot 29 points while Lorenzo Buncayo added 13 markers and JC Baltazar and Clint Escamis chipped in 10 points apiece for the AMA squad.
Ateneo and AMA begin their best-of-three title series on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Jacinto Tiu Gym in Xavier School.
