MANILA, Philippines - The Kiwanis Club Presidents’ Golf Cup gets under way today with 70 players from Calamba City, Santa Rosa City and Metro Manila seeing action at the Canlubang Golf and Country Club in Laguna.
The 18-hole tournament, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Canlubang and the Kiwanis Club of Rosena-Santa Rosa City headed by their presidents Ray Barnuevo and Judith Hasil, is held to raise funds for Kiwanis International’s global campaign to help eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus with 60,000 newborn babies dying each year from the disease.
It is also staged to help fund the clubs’ Feeding Program for the Children in various distress areas, according to chair past president Raffy Aranjuez and golf coordinator Darly Patalot.
Fabulous prizes, trophies, give-aways and raffle prizes are up for grabs in the event sponsored by Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito, Calamba City Mayor Joaquin Chipeco Jr., Rep. Egay San Luis, Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas, John Kenneth Ocampo and Friends and the city council of Santa Rosa City.
Other backers of the tournament are Rep.
