MANILA, Philippines - The Far Eastern University Tamaraws galloped to a 69-42 swamping of the Trinity University of Asia Tigers last Tuesday in the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament.
Mark Belo and Russell Escoto came up with the big numbers for the Tamaraws, who posted their second consecutive triumph at the Dom Placid gymnasium of the San Beda College-Manila campus in Mendiola.
They gave 12 and 10 points, respectively, enabling the Tams to join the University of Perpetual Help Dalta Altas in the Group B leadership.
In other matches, Samuel Razon struck hard in the third quarter, powering the University of the East Warriors to breeze past the Lyceum Philippines University Pirates, 67-53.
Razon made seven of his 15 point output in the deciding opening minutes of the second half, allowing the Warriors to claim their first win in Group A.
In the junior division, Paolo Quiogue delivered 12 points for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets, who won over the Perpetual Help Altalettes, 105-95.
Kervin Villagracia eked out 14 points for the National University Bullpups, who edged St. Stephen, 87-64.
The Adamson Baby Falcons, led by Alwin Margallo with 18, won over the Our Lady of Fatima Univerity junior Phoenix, 75-69.
