Jr NBA holds school cage clinics

MANILA, Philippines - The 2012 Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska unfolded anew in Metro Manila with ongoing school clinics for kids of all ages slated up to Feb. 20 in various public and private schools.

School clinics will be held at the British School in Taguig today, Rizal High School in Pasig Feb. 9, Paco Catholic School Feb. 11, Ynares Gym in Binangonan Feb. 15, Pasig Catholic College Feb. 16 and Grace Christian College in Quezon City Feb. 19. All clinics and stages of the Jr. NBA Philippines program are free.

The NBA international youth development program tipped off with a coaches clinic at Treston International College in Taguig on Jan. 14, then went on a whirlwind tour of coaches and school clinics in Puerto Princesa, Pampanga and Cagayan de Oro from Jan. 15 to 20.

Hundreds of coaches and thousands of students were reached by the program on its provincial tour, with Cagayan de Oro establishing a new Jr. NBA attendance record of 582 kids in just one afternoon session.

The Jr. NBA also conducted NBA Cares activities in a school for special children in San Fernando, Pampanga and in an evacuation center in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro, one of the areas severely affected by Typhoon Sendong.

US Jr. NBA coach and NBA legend Marty Conlon led the provincial school and coaches clinics supported by local coaches Ronnie Lacsamana in Puerto Princesa, Benjie Navarro in Pampanga and Jun Noel and Jojo Lastimosa in Cagayan de Oro.

NBA-appointed local coaches Louie Gonzales and Topex Robinson will lead the school clinics on schedule for February.

All kids are welcome to attend the afternoon sessions only of the school clinics at Ynares Gym in Binangonan (Feb. 15) and at Paco Catholic School (Feb. 20).
