MANILA, Philippines - Ceremonial drives by former President Fidel V. Ramos, Asian Tour No. 1 Juvic Pagunsan and the representatives of the various corporate sponsors yesterday officially launched the 28th edition of the Mango Tee, the member-guest golf tournament of the Alabang Country Club inside the Ayala-Alabang Village.
Ramos, Alabang’s most eminent golfing member, and Pagunsan, who is just about to start his reign as Asian Tour Order of Merit champ with a busy schedule around the world, were expected to be joined by ACCI chair Bobby Atendido, Pilipinas Shell president Ed Chua, Martin Lorenzo, head of the Pancake House Group and Hikosaburo Shibata, president of Mitsubishi Motors Phils. Corp.
The six-day event kicks off tomorrow, with 768 players vying for honors and a package of prizes worth more than P5 million including four premium cars from Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, Inc. and Citimotors, three golf carts from Club Car, Yamaha and Texas Eagle and a golf set from Mizuno/TourMaster.
Smart Communications, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum, Inc., Pancake House and Yellow Cab are the joint presentors of the tourney which promises to be tightly contested anew with the prevailing perfect golfing weather and the superb conditions of the course.
From the first day onwards, there will be nightly cocktails with special raffle prizes to be given away for all of those playing in the morning tee-off at 6:15 and the afternoon tee-off at 12:15.
