MANILA, Philippines - Three-time SEA Games gold winner Eduard Folayang stakes his unblemished record when he battles Brazilian Muay Thai champion Wade Teixeira in the featured match of the URCC-Colt 45 Cebu 7: Domination tomorrow at the Cebu International Convention Center in Cebu City.
The 28-year-old wushu expert will be seeking his sixth straight URCC win when he collides with Teixeira in the Superfight, highlight of a 10-bout affair that serves as an appetizer for Cebu’s forthcoming Sinulog festival.
Aside from being undefeated in the SEA Games since the 2003 edition of the biennial event, Folayang has also made ripples in Singapore’s popular mixed martial arts (MMA) event, having won all his four fights – all against fancied rivals to become one of the popular MMA practitioners in Asia today.
For this fight, the 5-foot-8 Baguio pride did not stop practicing – even during the holidays – knowing how dangerous his rival is.
Folayang’s stamina – thanks to his high altitude training – and his indomitable spirit – will be his weapon against a fighter who has also won his last two fights.
Now on its 10th year, URCC, through the sponsorship of Chris Sports with Solar Entertainment as the event’s media partner, is also staging two Visayan title bouts with Victor Torre hoping to keep his pinweight title against Geronimo Etac while Rex De Lara is likewise favored to retain the bantamweight champion when he battles Carry Bullos.
The other matches are: Alde de Zos vs Arven Baldilovar, Von Donaire vs Romely Alaba, Arnel Ylanan vs Riche Rusauro, Jimmy Yabo vs Urtych Allarin, Jan Selaryo vs Allan Attup, Renan Noble Franca vs Jonathan Sumagat and Richie3 Redman vs Alcer Lezada.
