MANILA, Philippines - Cicrcuit Showdown development driver Marc Peter Thomann, with teammates Edward de la Rosa, Gerard Loy and JP Castellano, ruled the first ever six-hour Philippine Endurance Cup, which officially ended the 2011 motor racing season.
Thomann, who prepared his race-winning Honda Civic EG, now belongs to an elite group of individuals who have won a race in a car that they built and raced.
The feat pads a long list of achievements he chalked up this year, including a podium finish in his first ever Philippine Production car race, a victory in the Philippine GT 100 Cup on his first try, and a successful defense of his 2010 Circuit Showdown Time Attack crown.
Thomann also holds the lap record on the Clark International Speedway West Course with a time of 1:06.36, which he set on April 2, and on the now defunct Subic International Raceway, where he posted a record time of 1:26.83, eclipsing the long-standing record by three seconds.
“I just tried my best and learned from the best,” said Thomann, who is now eagerly looking forward to 2012.
