AKTV coverage spices up PBA

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Basketball Association is gaining more viewers in the country as AKTV goes full blast in its coverage of the games, anchored on the “Kampihan Na” campaign for the PBA teams.

Two months into its partnership with the PBA, AKTV has managed to heighten Filipinos’ interest on the PBA games and hook more audiences with the ongoing Philippine Cup.

TV viewership is steadily increasing. In fact, the PBA’s most watched game last Dec. 4, which featured the crowd favorites Barangay Ginebra Kings against the Meralco Bolts, garnered more than 1.1 million viewers (based on Nielsen Media Ratings’ NUTAM data).

There is also a marked increase in gate attendance. The B-Meg Llamados vs Barangay Ginebra Kings duel was one of the most watched games during the elims of the Philippine Cup, drawing 14,280 spectators at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Incidentally, it was also the second highest watched game on television (NUTAM, Nielsen Media Ratings).

AKTV is the primetime sports block on IBC 13 where the PBA games are shown. It also airs various sports programs like the PBA D-League, United Football League, Pacific X-Treme Combat. The sports channel aims to become the local authority in sports and active lifestyle for the Filipino public.
