Nat'l motocross, quadcross, drag races under way

MANILA, Philippines - The Suzuki Raider Breed Wars II Drag Race Series, the NAMSSA National Motocross and Quadcross finals and the Moto ROC Road Racing Series hold their final legs beginning today with a spirited battle for top honors expected in various venues.

The Suzuki Raider Breed Wars II, featuring the top drag racers from different provinces and regions, will be held today at the 1.1-kilometer Aseana Blvd. located behind the Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus – The Way, the Truth and the Life Church near the SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Off-road racing action returns to the Speedworld MX Circuit on Saturday with the final leg of the NAMSSA National Motocross Development Program. The motos will be interspersed with four-wheeled off-road racing heats from the country’s top ATV and UTV enthusiasts who will be disputing trophies and titles in the quadcross events.

The motocross and quadcross events are supported by SM City Bicutan and the On Any Sunday group and recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission.

The annual NAMSSA boodle fight/fellowship party will follow the prize-giving ceremony.

The final NAMSSA-sanctioned event for the year is the Moto Roc Road Racing Championship organized by Two-wheel Enthusiasts Network Inc. set Sunday at the Luneta Park.

Meanwhile, Team Suzuki Pilipinas’ John Emerson Inguito bagged the coveted National Road Race Rider of the Year(r) title by winning the Moto4 Sintetico Open 4-stroke crown, the centerpiece category of the five-leg series of the Repsol Road Racing Championship organized by Sonic Boom Motorsports came to a close last Sunday at SM Sucat Supermall. 

Tonton Farin’s consistent performance in the Beginner 115cc Super Stock netted him the National Road Race Rookie of the Year(r) title.

Veteran Jovie Saulog edged perennial rival Jolet Jao in the second heat of the Supermoto Open Production class finals to emerge as the 2011 Supermoto Rider of the Year.  

The winners in the different NAMSSA motorcycle sports events will be feted in the 2011 NAMSSA Gala Awards Night set Dec. 21 starting at 9:30 p.m. at The Manor Superclub in Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City. For details on NAMSSA events, log on to www.namssa-live.com.
