MANILA, Philippines - Eight spots will be disputed for the main draw of the Pacman International 10-Ball Cup beginning today at the Star Billiards Center in Quezon City.
Tournament director Edgar Acaba made the confirmation to allow local players to get a shot of a spot in the main draw of the tournament which is expected to attract some of the world’s best players disputing the total prize fund of $60,000 put up by eight-division world boxing champion and new pool patron Manny Pacquiao.
“We’re doing this to accommodate those who cannot pay the entry fee of $200,” said Acaba. “This will be open for Class B and lower-rated players only.”
According to Acaba, also the secretary general of the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines, there will be two winners each day from Dec. 9 to 12 and players who failed to qualify the previous day will have a chance to re-enter the following day. The main draw of the Pacman International 10-Ball Cup begins on Dec. 13.
Tournament fee is P500. Registration will end at 7 p.m. today while game time starts 30 minutes after the end of registration. The tournament will employ a race-to-9 knockout system under WPA rules.
