MANILA, Philippines - Danny Gutierrez fired a gross 80 for a net 68 then nipped Kam Bor Mo in the countback to capture the Class A crown in the Manila Southwoods Seniors Trimester Birthday Bash/Pre-Christmas tournament recently.
A 12-handicapper, Gutierrez rallied with a 39 at the back of the Masters course after a 41 to tie Kam, who closed out with a 41, and rule the premier division of the 18-hole event capping the three-leg tournament backed by hole-in-one sponsors Yamaha by Kart Plaza, Diamond Motors Corp. and Wilson.
Johnny Violeta, a 17-handicapper, carded a net 61 from a gross 78, nipping Gil Domingo, who shot a gross 77 for a net 62, by one for the Class B crown in the event presented annually by Anako Phils., Fumaco, Inc. and Yamaha by Kart Plaza and Wilson Sports and sponsored by Romago, Inc., Vantage Point and Asia Pacific Golf Corp.
Robert Tan turned in a gross 95 for a net 63 as he ran away with a four-shot win over George Alfonso, who had a net 67 from a gross 93, for the Class C title.
Fil Ermitaño carded a net 67 from a gross 101 to bag the Super Senior diadem with Norberto Rafer settling for second with a net 75 in the event held in line with the annual meeting of the club’s seniors chapter, headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president Paco Gonzalez.
