MANILA, Philippines - After a successful first semester hosting, Season 87 host Perpetual Help looks forward to not just conduct the games smoothly and efficiently but also to vie for titles in second semester sports starting with the indoor volleyball competitions next week.
“We’re happy that we have a successful staging of the first semester sports in accordance to our theme this year, which is Brazen at 87, many motions, one direction,” said league president Anthony Tamayo of Perpetual Help.
“Now our focus is to have another successful staging of our second semester sports and hopefully get us some victories,” he added.
Tamayo was referring to the indoor volleyball competition where the Altas have legitimate chances of winning the championships in all divisions, men’s, women’s and high school as they try to contend for the general championships.
Perpetual’s only championship came from women’s beach volley event after its men’s and junior’s squads fell short after making it all the way to the finals.
This time, the Altas hope to nail all three crowns.
“We have a chance in volleyball so I wish our teams all the luck,” said Tamayo.
The other sports lined up in the second semester are taekwondo, football, lawn tennis, soft tennis and centerpiece track and field.
Cheerleading, which was supposed to be done in the first semester, was moved to second semester, perhaps in March next year, to give participating teams more time to prepare.
Perpetual is also expected to dominate after reigning supreme last year.
