Blackwater seeks No. 2 vs DUB 5

MANILA, Philippines - Blackwater Elite shoots for its second straight win and the early lead as it takes on newcomer DUB Unlimited at resumption of the PBA D-League Aspirant’s Cup at The Arena in San Juan today.

Coming off a scrambling 68-65 victory over Boracay Rhum in last Thursday’s opener of the league’s second season, the Elite are slightly favored over the untested DUB Unlimited side, a team of virtual unknowns.

“I have no knowledge of this team. We don’t know how to play them. But we’ll be ready for them and treat them with respect,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac.

Gametime is set at 2 p.m.

Big Chill and Cobra Energy Drink, meanwhile, make their debut with the former out to improve its sixth place finish in the inaugural Foundation’s Cup.

“Our modest goal is to qualify for the quarterfinals,” said Big Chill coach Arsenio Dysangco, who believes he has a fighting unit for the Aspirants’ Cup after beefing up the team with big players.

But Cobra remains the odds on favorite in the 4 p.m. encounter on a team built around the core of the UE Warriors.
