Cone, Reyes lead Seaoil coaches gab

MANILA, Philippines - Multi-titled PBA coaches Tim Cone and Chot Reyes will give valuable insights on how to coach winning teams as they headline the first-ever Seaoil Elite League Coaches convention at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Nov. 11-13.

Cone and Reyes, mentors of the B-MEG and Talk ‘n Text franchises in the PBA, respectively, will join other coaches in giving technical and practical tips about coaching to over 160 aspiring high school mentors from all over the country in the event backed by Seaoil Philippines.

Also confirming their participation are University of the Philippines coach Ricky Dandan, National U coach Eric Altamirano and Powerade assistant coach Alex Compton along with noted leadership trainer Eric Villarama.

In three sessions, Villarama will focus on innovation and leadership as an integral part of mentoring players. Cone will teach half court defensive principles, Reyes the transition game, Dandan zone defense, and Altamirano and Compton the fundamental skills development.

“Coaches are more than just managers of the game. They are teachers and mentors in life. And this event focuses on pouring into the training of the coaches who will lead the next generation of great Filipino players,” said Compton, who also acts as Seaoil national training director.

Following the awarding of certificates, the high school coaches will be treated by organizers to watch the PBA games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Aside from being a basketball league, the Seaoil Elite League provides a venue where both coaches and players can gain genuine instruction.

The league has a unique and uniform basketball training instruction manual to all participating teams in the league, which is backed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas headed by executive director Sonny Barrios.
