MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que blew a sizzling start with a quadruple bogey on No. 10 but fought back with five birdies to fire a four-under 68 and trail Taiwanese Lin Wen-hong and Ross Bain by three at the start of the Indian Open of the Asian Tour at the Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi yesterday.
Que, seeking to end a long slump after winning The Country Club Invitational in January, opened up with a 33 only to reel back with a four-over card at the par-4 10. But the long-hitting Filipino shotmaker regained his bearing and birdied Nos. 11, 12, 14, 16 and 18 to complete a 33-35 round.
Lin, who rattled five straight birdies from No. 13, and Bain, who eagled No. 1 and also strung up five birdies in row from No. 8, shot identical 65s to post a one-stroke lead over Zaw Moe and Chiragh Kumar in the $1.2 million event.
Elmer Salvador also squandered a four-under card with bogeys on Nos. 14 and 15 and settled for a 70 in a tie with Tony Lascuna and a host of others while Mars Pucay, coming off a third place finish in Taiwan last week, struggled with a 74.
