Globe-Air Force spikers snare nat'l volley crown

MANILA, Philippines - The Globe-Philippine Air Force team swept reigning NCAA champion University of Perpetual Help System Dalta), 25-18, 25-19, 31-29, to capture the National Open Men’s Volleyball Championship crown at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium recently.

The win capped Globe-PAF’s domination of the event that included a sweep of the elims over Araneta Univ. Foundation, top UAAP contender National U and UPHSD.

In the semis, Globe-PAF blasted UAAP runner-up FEU without dropping a set with Dante Alinsunurin clinching the MVP plum.

Two other Globe-PAF players, Jessie Lopez and Jeffrey Malabanan, made it to the Mythical Six after winning the best setter and best quicker awards, respectively.

Globe-PAF mentor Jasper Jimenez also took the best coach award. The rest of the awardees were FEU’s Pitrus de Ocampo as best server and two UPHSD players, who won the best libero and best blocker titles.
