NAMSSA holds motocross races at Speedworld

MANILA, Philippines - The seventh leg of the 2011 NAMSSA Motocross Development Program gets under way Sunday with over a hundred riders taking part at the Speedworld MX Circuit in SM Bicutan, Parañaque City.

Participants from Metro Manila, Bulacan, Ilocos Sur, Nueva Ecija, Southern Leyte, Cebu and Palawan are expected to vie for titles in 13 race categories, according to NAMSSA, the country’s governing body for motorcycle sports which is recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission.

NAMSSA is also the sole Philippine federation affiliated and recognized by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).

The event will also serve as tune-up race for the Iran-bound Philippine motocross team of Kenneth San Andres and Moymoy Flores. San Andres is the country’s bet in the MX2 division of the FIM Asia Motocross Supercross Championship. Flores, on the other hand, is the frontrunner in the Junior 85cc division.

San Andres and Flores together with their coaches and FIM Asia officials are scheduled to depart for Iran Monday in time for the Tehran race on Oct. 5-6.

Other top riders seeing action this weekend are Migi and Miko Tolentino, Jolet Jao, Jovie Saulog and Jon Adlawan, intermediate riders Jerick Mitra, Omar Aman, Chadwick Garcia, Tonton Gonzales, Norman Moreno and Abdulsamie Kallahal, production Riders Cheaster Hinayo and Joseph Penaso.
