MANILA, Philippines - The sixth leg of Circuit Showdown held at the Batangas Racing Circuit last weekend proved to be a surprise challenge to competitors as it was the first time that a race had been run in reverse around the track and the counterclockwise direction made all the drivers, including the veterans, feel like newbies.
When the dust from the numerous spin outs settled, Paolo Mantolino posted the fastest time of the day – two minutes 1.536 seconds.
The times were actually close as less than three hundredths of a second separated the top three drivers. Eggy Ong finished behind Mantolino in 2.01.604 and Carlo Mojica third in 2.01.827.
Other winners were Hernel Castillo for Group B, followed by Edward de la Rosa, who encountered engine problems on his second lap. Jeffrey Roxas-Chua took home top honors in Group C with Rico Cheng following close behind with less than a second separating them.
Ulysses Paredes took the top step of the Podium for Group D followed by Alan Arguelles and Ton Ton Ramos. Don Andaya had the fastest time in Group E by topping the second heat after overcoming mechanical problems during the first. He was followed by Francis Hugo and Christian Sedano. Wesley Tsai topped Group F ahead of Ivan Antonio and Jun Cruz.
