MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle U and Adamson dispute a share of second spot today when they cross paths in the UAAP Season 74 men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Currently sharing third place at 3-2 (win-loss), the resurgent Green Archers and pre-tournament favorite Falcons part ways at 3 p.m. with the winner joining idle Far Eastern U at No. 2 behind unbeaten Ateneo (6-0).
After a 0-2 start, La Salle has racked up three straight lopsided triumphs to vault into the upper half of the standings. The Archers boast of a winning margin of 15.6 points per game, highlighted by an 87-63 rout of winless University of the East last Sunday.
DLSU coach Dindo Pumaren said the Taft-based cagers carry an added motivation against the Falcons.
“We haven’t beaten Adamson since last year. This will be our first meeting this year since we haven’t been matched even in the pre-season,” he said.
Against Adamson, Pumaren said “we have to extend our defense because they’ve been shooting well and they’ve been patient in executing their plays.”
The Falcons, for their part, seek to bounce back from their heartbreaking 63-56 loss to National University.
