MANILA, Philippines - Valley and Forest Hills sustained their hot streak by notching their fourth consecutive victories to stay on top of the standings at the halfway mark of the Men’s Federation Golf League eliminations in various courses.
Last year’s losing finalists, the Valley golfers dumped their Mimosa rivals at home, 5-0, then hacked out a 3-2 victory on the road. The Antipolo club now have 12 points as co-overall leader with Forest Hills and also the frontrunner in Group II while Mimosa is winless in four matches.
Forest Hills downed Manila Southwoods, 3.5-1.5, to match the 4-0-0 win-loss-draw record of Valley and leads Wack Wack by three points in Group 3. Wack Wack downed Sherwood Hills, 4-1, to improve to 3-1-0 for 9 points.
Alabang split its tie with Sta. Elena but remained the leader in Group 2 with 9 points on a 3-2-0 record. After losing 2-3 at Alabang, Sta. Elena boosted its qualifying chances with a similar 3-2 win by winning the last two matches on the last hole.
With a 2-2-1 mark, Sta. Elena is now tied with Royal Northwoods at 7 points. Northwoods improved to 2-1-1 after posting a surprise 4.5-.5 rout of defending champion Riviera which was coming off back-to-back wins.
